About Natalie

Natalie Ulrich has been teaching yoga since 1999 and is a 500-hr experienced yoga teacher with a 200-hr Yoga Alliance registration (RYT-200). She is inspired by Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow® Yoga and is near completion of her 500-hr training. She graduated from the 200-hr program under the guidance of internationally renowned author/teacher Beryl Bender in 1999. Living in New York has provided her with the opportunity to study with and live under the radiant influence of many wonderful teachers from all over the world. (Shiva Rea, Anita Goa, Beryl Bender, Jillian Pransky, Carrie Parker, Johanna Aldrich, Michelle Cormack, Maria Garre, Sri Patthabhi Jois, Paul Grilley, Eckhardt Tolle) and many others.

Natalie was born and raised in Switzerland and is now based in New York City. She has a degree in business administration, has been performing and studying music, singing and dance for many years and is proud to offer to the world her newly released CD “under free sky” 2010.

Natalie joyfully cultivates awareness and shares her teachings at Cornell Medical Center in New York. Her natural ability to teach continuously inspires her to dive deeper.  Honoring the flow, the under current yoga liberates within. More and more she is moving towards leading retreats and workshops all over the world.  A humanitarian at heart, she has volunteered her services such as teaching at the Burn Unit of Cornell Medical Center and the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services in the Bronx. She is honored to have been chosen as a speaker on alternative medicines for the World Burn Congress in 2009 and recently was a guest speaker at the Cornell Weight Loss Surgery Program.

The yoga journey began with a creative spark early on and was further enriched when her teacher Anita Goa came up to her one day and said “I think you should become a teacher”. She’s never looked back since…

Transcending beyond many obstacles and continuously voyaging towards uniting mind, body and spirit, Natalie has developed a unique teaching style. She creates a space of warmth, of harmony, a bed of roses, an open door for everyone. Natalie teaches a “Vinyasa” Prana Flow® Yoga class created by her teacher Shiva Rea.

Natalie is known for her gentle teaching approach especially for beginners but also likes to challenge the energetic student with a dynamic sweaty practice connecting deeply with the breath and allowing students to be drawn into the “river of prana”.  Her love for music and dance, her sense of humor, her experience with many different countries and cultures shine through brilliantly in every class. Bestowing great care and love for her students, Natalie offers a space for new openings for everyone. With kindness she encourages her students: “honor where you are today, right now” and thus allows the discovering of what it means to be human.

Can we find a space to connect with the universal life force, practice surrendering to the present moment, increase our capacity for compassion and create a space for conscious evolution? How do we find balance and calm the mind? How do we connect to the universal source of breath? How do we navigate through life with a persistent spark of curiosity? Questions like “who am I” or what is my “dharma” evoking from seemingly nowhere. How can we be creation and live in the flow, in complete harmony with ourselves and others in this world? How can we stand in radiance and find truth within ourselves?

Natalie remains delightfully captured by the teachings of yoga and the questions it evokes and realizes that everything she ever believed in makes complete sense with the practice of yoga.
